Music, culture and community – Duchy direct

Mölln (aa/pm). The 39th Möllner Old Town Festival invites you to an eventful weekend from August 23rd to 25th under the motto “Back to the roots”. Despite the ongoing construction work in the city center, the festival will take place in the spa park car park, the construction yard and in the spa park itself. With this choice of location, the festival is building on its origins, which were in a marquee in the spa park car park in 1979. Jochen Buchholz, spa director, emphasizes the positive response to the venue from the previous year and the improved conditions for barrier-free use.

The festival mile in the spa park offers a colorful mix of entertainment, gastronomy and culture. Two stages provide a lively atmosphere with a diverse musical program. Headliners such as United4 and Deejay Plus represent top-class live music, while local talents and artists from the surrounding area embody the motto “From Mölln for Mölln”.

A special highlight is the market of encounters in the spa gardens, organized by the Lebenshilfewerk Mölln-Hagenow. Here, visitors can gather information at various stands and take part in interactive programs. Despite the cancellation of the flea market, the addition of handicraft stands offers an opportunity to discover little treasures. On Saturday and Sunday, local associations will also present their valuable work.

There will be plenty of sport on Saturday at the traditional city run, organized by the athletics department of the Mölln Sports Association. Various routes lead through the picturesque landscape around Mölln, with the start and finish in the spa gardens.

Sunday begins with a church service followed by a handbag auction, with the proceeds being donated to a good cause. The auction is led by none other than Till Eulenspiegel himself. Another highlight on Sunday is the duck race in Mühlenbach, organized by Round Table 126 Ratzeburg, in which over 2,000 rubber ducks compete for victory.

The Old Town Festival also brings with it changes in the traffic flow. The city center can be reached via Mölln South, parking spaces are available at the Quellenhof, parking deck and train station. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport or to travel on foot or by bike.

Admission to the Old Town Festival is free, and the program offers a varied mix of music, encounters and summer atmosphere on all three days. Further information and the complete program can be found on the official website of the Old Town Festival.
