New York Red Bulls loan defender Juan José Mina to CF Estrela de Amadora

HARRISON, N.J. (August 16, 2024) – The New York Red Bulls have loaned defender Juan José Mina to CF Estrela de Amadora for one year with an option to buy, the club announced today.

“We wish Juan all the best in Portugal with CF Estrela de Amadora,” said sporting director Julian de Guzman. “We believe this is the best opportunity for Juan to continue his development.”

Mina, 20, has been with the Red Bulls since July 31, 2023, when he signed with New York from Deportivo Cali. Mina has played for the New York Red Bulls in MLS NEXT Pro, where he has made 12 career appearances over the past year. He made his NYRB II debut on Sept. 24 against Philadelphia Union II and also recorded his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist in that match.

Prior to New York, Mina made 26 appearances for Deportivo Cali, where he recorded two assists. He made his professional debut for the club on May 7, 2022, in a 1-1 draw against Santa Fe. Mina has represented Colombia at various youth levels, including the U-16 and U-20 national teams. He has made 10 appearances for the U-20 national team, including multiple appearances at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship.
