Snapchat has a really iconic notification sound, but it’s not particularly loud, which has caused me to miss several conversations and snaps. There’s also no way to distinguish between different notifications, so I can’t tell if it’s a message from a friend texting me or a standard message from the Snapchat team. To address these concerns, I’ve compiled a list of methods to help you change the Snapchat notification sound. Let’s take a look.
Method 1: Change Snapchat Notification Sound from Chat Screen
This is a problem that must have bothered a lot of people. Not being able to tell the difference between whether your friend sent you a Snap or whether you received a text message from Team Snapchat. Well, there is an option in the app itself that allows you to set a custom notification sound for each conversation. Here’s how it works.
Note
The option to set custom notification sounds for chats is limited to Snapchat+ users only.
- Long press on a chat whose notification sound you want to change.
- Select Chat and Notification Settings.
- Then go to Notification settings.
- Here, press Notification sounds.
- Now choose the sound you like from the list that appears.
Method 2: Choose the alert tone from the Snapchat+ menu
Another way to change the chat notification alert is through the Snapchat+ menu. It also allows you to change the notification sound for different chats. Like the previous method, this is also Exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers.
- Press your Bitmoji icon top left.
- Here, press the Carte Snapchat+ as shown in the attached screenshot.
- In the Snapchat+ menu, scroll down and tap Custom notification sounds.
- Next, tap the friend whose notification sound you want to change.
- Finally, select your favorite sound for this person.
Method 3: Select Notification Sound in Android Settings
If you want to replace Snapchat’s current default notification sound for the entire Snapchat app and not just for a specific conversation, you can do so from the Android settings. You also don’t need to be a Snapchat+ subscriber to try this method. The steps may differ for your smartphone, but the general idea remains the same.
- Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Go to Notifications > Notifications d’applications.
- Scroll down and tap Snapchat.
- In the list of notification categories, tap Snaps et conversations.
- Now go to Sons and select the tone you prefer.
- Make sure to press To safeguard to apply the changes.
You can repeat this process for other categories which you can find on the Snapchat notifications page on Android.
