The flight of the Falcon 9 rocket, which will carry the largest Polish satellite to date, EagleEye, into low Earth orbit on Friday, will be visible over our country – informs Karol Wójcicki, author of the blog “Z głowy w gwiazdach”.
On Friday at around 8:19 PM Polish time, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch from Vandenberg Base in California, carrying 116 satellites into space. Among them will be EagleEye, the largest Polish satellite to date.

As Karol Wójcicki, the author of the blog “Z głowy w gwiazdach” informed, the rocket’s flight over Poland will be visible about an hour after the launch. This moment will coincide with the release of satellites from the Falcon 9. According to Creotech Instruments SA, which built the Polish satellite, its separation is planned at 9:38 p.m. It is worth getting ready and looking at the sky a few minutes earlier, so as not to miss this moment.
As Wójcicki reported, “the second stage of the rocket will move in polar orbit, so it will fly from south to north”. Being in the central part of our country, it will be possible to see it above the eastern horizon, where it will rise to a height of about 45 degrees. In eastern Poland, the flight will take place higher, and in the west lower.
“The moment we’ve been waiting for for a long time”
EagleEye, the largest and most advanced Polish satellite in history, will enable Earth photography with exceptionally high resolution of up to one meter per pixel. As stated in the company’s press release, the satellite weighs about 55 kilograms, which is equal to the total mass of all Polish satellites that have been created since the beginning of our participation in space exploration.
– After many years of work on the HyperSat satellite system, on which the first Polish large satellite is based, the moment has come that we have been waiting for a long time together with the entire Polish space industry – said Grzegorz Brona, CEO of Creotech Instruments SA, quoted in the release.
