Mexico extradites former deputy to Guatemala

Mexico City. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) extradited Luis Armando Rabbe Tejeda, former deputy of that Central American nation, to the Guatemalan government to face charges before the Tenth Criminal Court of First Instance, drug trafficking and crimes against the environment, for the crimes of abuse of authority, illegal appointments and embezzlement by theft.

According to information from Mexican authorities, between January 2015 and January 2016, the former Guatemalan deputy “was involved in irregularities in the theft of public funds, which caused economic harm to the country in question.”

Between January 2015 and January 2016, Luis Armando Rabbe Tejada, according to accusations by the Guatemalan justice system, served as a Deputy in the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala and as President of the Board of Directors he was involved in irregularities in the hiring of personnel for that Institution, he participated in the theft of public funds to the detriment of the assets of that Congress, causing economic damage in the amount of approximately 19 million 728 thousand 768 Mexican pesos.

This person was arrested in July 2018 in Monterrey, Nuevo León and after the FGR’s efforts, the Mexican government granted his extradition.

He was handed over at the border crossing between Talismán, Chiapas, and the town of El Carmen, Guatemala, to the agents designated to bring him before the justice system of that Central American nation.
