Arranged marriage: violence and abuse for years, 36-year-old Bangladeshi arrested in Rimini

(ANSA) – RIMINI, 16 AUGUST – A 36-year-old man, born in Bangladesh and resident in Rimini for 15 years, was arrested for mistreatment of the family by the State Police, coordinated by deputy prosecutor Davide Ercolani. The 36-year-old, in execution of an order by the investigating judge Raffaele Deflorio, is now in prison at Casetti. The 36-year-old was reported by his wife after 14 years of marriage. The woman said she had married in an arranged marriage in Bangladesh, and when she arrived in Italy her husband had forced her to share a small apartment with 16 people for whom she had to provide for all their needs. A slave, insulted and beaten, raped and tortured. It is a horror story that this woman told in tears to the volunteers of “Rompi il silenzio” and which became a detailed complaint to the mobile squad of the Rimini Police Headquarters. The woman said she was raped by her father-in-law and brother-in-law, beaten by her mother-in-law, and hit with a belt by her husband who shouted in her face “you’re ugly, if I don’t kill you here I’ll do it in Bangladesh”. Frightened after leaving home for the first time with her young children, she was forced to return to her husband, but after the umpteenth attack she contacted the association and asked for help.
