Betclic 2. Liga: Zagłębie Sosnowiec

It started with a quick goal for Zagłębie, then the players from ŁKS equalized, then took the lead, and it ended in a 2:2 draw. After goals by Mateusz Wzięch and Mikołaj Lipień, the players of coach Konrad Gerega from Sosnowiec bring home a valuable point.

The match did not start as the ŁKS players had planned, as the hosts from Sosnowiec quickly opened the scoring. After a cross from one of the Zagłębie players, Roko Kurtović headed the ball into the net. Coach Marek Saganowski’s team attacked the ŁKS players high up, and they had some trouble with carrying out an effective action in front of the opponents’ goal.

Slowly, the white-red-whites began to catch the wind in their sails and launch offensive actions. Initially, they were more timid, lacking a bit of effectiveness and the final pass, but finally, coach Konrad Gerega’s team achieved their goal. In the 26th minute, Mateusz Wzięch burst into the penalty area from the center of the field, passed the ball to the well-positioned Oliwier Sławiński, who fired a powerful shot, which was blocked by the Zagłębie goalkeeper. However, the ball was collected by Mateusz Wzięch, who hit it into the Zagłębie goal, equalizing the score.

The goal scored gave the ŁKS players a boost, who thanks to their high-level play and ball receptions in Zagłębie’s half created more goal-scoring opportunities. It is worth emphasizing the great opportunity of Oliwier Sławiński, who, after a perpendicular pass from one of his teammates, outpaced the hosts’ defensive line, passed the goalkeeper and fired a shot, which was valiantly blocked by one of the returning defenders.

The first quarter of the second half was less dynamic than what we had seen earlier. The game slowed down a bit, which also resulted in fewer goal situations. The players from ŁKS tried to play on the counterattack, although they did not manage to find a favorable moment to take a dangerous shot on the hosts’ goal.

Despite this, it was the white-red-whites who took the lead in the 71st minute. The courage in the play of the ŁKS players, the attempts to beat their rivals by dribbling, paid off – this is how Mikołaj Lipień passed the players from Sosnowiec on the sixteenth-meter line, broke into the penalty area and beat the Zagłębie goalkeeper with a powerful shot.

Coach Marek Saganowski’s team did not give up and launched further attacks on the ŁKS goal. In the 79th minute, Patryk Mularczyk took advantage of a slight confusion in the white-red-white penalty area, the ball fell to his feet after a ricochet from one of the ŁKS defenders, who quickly directed it into the ŁKS net – and we had a draw again.

Both teams worked to score the winning goal. The ŁKS players had a particularly good situation in the added time – then Alan Siwek found himself in a favourable situation in the Zagłębie sixteen, but unfortunately his shot lacked some effectiveness. The white-red-whites are returning from Sosnowiec with a valuable one point.
