1289. Traffic accident between two cars; four people injured – Berg am Laim

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at around 7:45 p.m., a 22-year-old police officer and her two colleagues (24 and 30 years old) were driving a Mercedes Sprinter service car with special signals on Kirchseeoner Straße in the direction of Innsbrucker Ring, on their way to an operation.

At the same time, a 47-year-old man residing in Munich was driving a BMW car on the Innsbrucker Ring in the direction of Berg am Laim.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Innsbrucker Ring and Kirchseeoner Straße, causing the 47-year-old’s car to hit a traffic light pole. All those involved were injured. The 22-year-old driver and the 47-year-old BMW driver had to be taken to hospital by the emergency services. The 24-year-old and 30-year-old police officers were both given medical treatment on site.

The damage to property amounted to several tens of thousands of euros.

While the accident was being recorded, there were significant traffic disruptions in this area. The Innsbruck Ring was completely closed in the direction of Berg am Laim.

The Munich traffic police have taken over further investigations.

1290. Cyclist falls and dies – Sendling

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at around 6:20 p.m., a 77-year-old man residing in Austria was riding his bicycle at the intersection of Gotzinger Strasse / Thalkirchner Strasse when he suddenly fell to the ground through no fault of his own.

Witnesses who became aware of the incident immediately called the emergency services, whereupon both the police and the emergency services were sent to the scene.

The 77-year-old cyclist had to be resuscitated on site. He was then taken to hospital by the emergency services, where he died a short time later. A sudden, unforeseeable illness cannot be ruled out.

There were no traffic disruptions while the accident was being investigated.

The Munich traffic police have taken over further investigations.

1291. Fire incident; one person injured – Neuperlach

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at around 9:40 p.m., the Munich police received a report of a fire on a balcony in an apartment building.

As a result, several patrols and the fire brigade were sent to the scene. The police set up traffic measures.

The fire brigade opened the affected apartment and was able to extinguish the fire. An 81-year-old woman who lives in the apartment above the affected apartment was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to initial estimates, the material damage amounts to several tens of thousands of euros.

Police Department 13 (Arson Offenses) has taken over further investigations into the cause of the fire.

The establishments were searched for stolen goods. A four-digit amount of cash was stolen.

Extensive forensic investigations were carried out on site.

1293. Theft of a car; one suspect arrested – Ismaning and Bayreuth

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at around 6:30 p.m., a 41-year-old resident of the Munich district reported to a police station the theft of his company car, a Seat car, which was parked in front of his workplace.

The police immediately began searching for the vehicle. At around 10:30 p.m., the traffic police in Bayreuth were able to locate and stop the vehicle on the A9 in the Sophienberg area.

The driver was a Polish national with no permanent residence in Germany, whose identity has not yet been established. He was temporarily arrested on the spot and the vehicle was confiscated.

An investigation is now underway into the theft of the vehicle. He was brought before an investigating judge on Thursday, August 15, 2024, to clarify the question of detention. The judge has since issued an arrest warrant. The suspect has been transferred to a correctional facility.

1294. Major police operation – Schwabing

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at around 10:20 p.m., passers-by alerted the police because a male person in the area of ​​Wedekindplatz was verbally threatening passers-by with pepper spray in his hand.

Several Munich police patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene. A 34-year-old resident of Munich was identified on the scene. Due to his aggressive behavior, the 34-year-old had to be handcuffed by the police and taken to a police station.

The pepper spray was confiscated. No one was injured in the incident.

The 34-year-old is now being charged with threats and insults.

Since the 34-year-old also appeared to be mentally unstable to the officers, he was taken to a hospital with psychiatric care.
