The “dot dot dot” festival, which started on Sunday, August 4th, runs until Thursday, August 29th. The venue is the garden in the “Volkskundemuseum Wien” (8th, Laudongasse 15-19). This year, the short film festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary. In addition to other exciting themes (“Who We Are”, “Conversations”, etc.), the focus on contemporary animated film is on four evenings. The next screening in the “Animated Nights” series: On Sunday, August 18th, from 8 p.m., nine impressive productions by creative filmmakers from Germany, Hungary, Poland, England, France and other countries can be seen under the striking motto “World In Chaos”.
Austria is represented by the 6-minute film “Tako Tsubo” by Eva Pedroza and Fanny Sorgo (2024, Sixpack Film), which deals with how to deal with feelings in a performance-oriented society. The story: A doctor says: “The heart is just a burden.” In order to free himself from oppressive emotions, “Mr. Ham” decides to have his heart surgically removed. Was that the right decision?
After the open-air screenings of “World In Chaos”, a film discussion (“Film Talk”) begins. The price of the tickets is decided by the visitors (recommended: 8.00 euros, reduced: 6.00 euros, “Extra Love”: 10.00 euros). The motto “Pay As You Can” always applies. Equally recommendable presentations of other cinematic delicacies will take place on Monday, August 19th (“Man will uns ans Leben”), on Tuesday, August 20th (“Who We Are: Riot Not Diet”), and on Wednesday, August 21st (“Who We Are: Tales Of Belonging”) in the garden area of the “Volkskundemuseum Wien”. Several short films will be shown from 8 p.m. in the original version with English subtitles or in the original English version. Until the end of the festival, mainly live-action films will be shown.
