Russia wants to ban the Czech game
The lawsuit was filed by the head of the joint press service of the St. Petersburg courts, Daria Lebeděvová. It states that the game is “capable of contradicting traditional values” Russian companies and creates “feeling that the information presented by various sources is false”.
To be specific, the St. Petersburg prosecutor’s office does not particularly like the fact that the game Last Train Home allegedly incites hatred and hostility towards Russian authorities and Red Army soldiers during the civil war. The story is said to present false information about the activities of state authorities and officials during the Russian Civil War.
It is not a game for children at all
But this is the most interesting thing: according to the prosecutor’s office, falsehoods in the game can harm the mental and developmental health of children. But the game as such is not intended for children at all. According to the European PEGI rating system for age suitability, the title contains violence and vulgar language, so it can only be played by users over the age of 16.
The State Attorney’s Office is demanding that the game be banned from Steam. The lawsuit was registered by the Oktyabr District Court in St. Petersburg. It is not stated when it will be discussed.
Last Train Home is a Czech strategy game from 2023, which takes place in the historical context of the end of the First World War. The story follows the fate of Czechoslovak legionnaires trying to get home from Russia through Siberia. The then emerging Soviet Union did not want legionnaires on its territory, and Czechoslovak soldiers had to fight with the Red Army when returning home via the Trans-Siberian Highway.
