Tragic Accident in Prince George’s County Claims Life of 1-Year-Old Girl
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Authorities have reported the unfortunate death of a 1-year-old girl following a severe car accident. The incident occurred shortly after the child, along with her two siblings, was abducted by their father from their Virginia Beach residence late Wednesday evening.
Details of the Abduction
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Dana Plummer, allegedly took the children — Zayin, 7, Zayir, 5, and Za’riyah, 1 — from their home on Jay Are Court shortly before 9 p.m. Witnesses reported that Plummer fled in a black Honda Passport.
Domestic Violence Made Worse
According to police reports, Plummer is accused of stabbing his ex-wife and his 12-year-old stepdaughter just prior to the abduction. His ex-wife is the mother of both the kidnapped children and the 12-year-old girl. Authorities confirmed that Dana Plummer was hospitalized following the crash.
Shooting Update from the Crash Site
The overturned vehicle carrying the children crashed into two other cars near exit 7 on I-495 in Prince George’s County following a pursuit by Virginia State Police. The chase began when an alert citizen spotted the vehicle and notified law enforcement. Despite attempts to perform a traffic stop, Plummer did not comply.
Ongoing Investigation and Charges Filed
Maryland State Police shared that they were present at the scene of the crash, stating on social media, “Driver and three children transported from the scene to area hospitals. Crash team en route to the scene.”
The authorities are assessing the situation, and additional charges related to the crash are expected. Plummer faces several charges in Virginia, including two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of parental abduction, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and domestic assault.
