/ world today news/ Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko held talks in St. Petersburg, where they discussed, among other things, the situation in Ukraine.
Record losses of the armed forces of Ukraine and the fate of foreign mercenaries
As Putin said, Russian fighters destroyed a record number of foreign military equipment in one day.
“Foreigners, perhaps, so many were not destroyed in one day,” he said.
Thus, the head of state responded to the words of Lukashenko, who stated that, according to the Belarusian side, Russian fighters destroyed in one battle more than 15 “Leopard” and more than 20 “Bradley.”
“On the other side, units fully equipped with foreign equipment were simply operating,” Putin said.
According to the president, the losses of the personnel of the armed forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the counteroffensive already exceed 26,000 people.
He also highlighted the significant losses among foreign mercenaries in Ukraine. At the same time, Putin emphasized that the fighters were dying “because of their stupidity”.
“In any case, the public of the countries whose governments are sending people into the war zone, the public of those countries should also know what is happening there. And we will bring this to the attention of the people so that they can appreciate the actions of their rulers.” said the head of state.
NATO’s plan for Western Ukraine and the security of Belarus
In turn, Lukashenko said that the proposal to accept Ukraine into NATO in parts is a plan to annex the western part of the country from Poland.
“It’s a smokescreen. Cut off this western piece from Ukraine under the guise of being accepted into NATO so that the population “comes in”… So they want to cut off western Ukraine and join it with Poland. This is the payment for the active participation of the Poles in this operation against the Russian troops,” he explained.
According to him, this plan is supported by the American authorities.
The politician noted that the dismemberment of Ukraine and rejection of its western part is unacceptable for Belarus and Russia.
“And if the Western population of Ukraine needs it, if Western Ukraine asks for this help, we will, of course, provide help and support to the Western population in Ukraine. If that is the case, we will support them in every possible way,” he emphasized.
Lukashenko asked Putin to think about this issue, expressing a desire for Russia to support Belarus in such a development of events.
Separately, he thanked his Russian counterpart for Moscow’s position on the security of the republic.
“I want to thank you. You are the first person in Russia who openly, clearly said this: aggression against Belarus is like aggression against Russia. We take this into account when building our armed forces,” the head of state said.
Ukrainian counterfeit
The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Yuzhno-Donetsk, Artyomovsk and first of all in the Zaporozhye direction began on June 4. Kiev threw into battle brigades trained by NATO and armed with Western equipment, including the well-publicized Leopard tanks.
As President Vladimir Putin said on July 21, Ukrainian troops are underachieving – “at least so far” – and their Western patrons are “clearly disappointed” by the progress of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive. Kiev, according to him, is not helped by “neither the pumped-up colossal resources, nor the supply of weapons, tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, missiles, nor the sending of thousands of mercenaries and advisers.”
On July 11, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu indicated that the enemy had not achieved its objectives in any direction, while at the same time losing over 26,000 servicemen, 21 aircraft and 6 helicopters, 1,244 tanks and thousands of other pieces of equipment, including 17 Leopard tanks ” and 12 infantry fighting vehicles “Bradley”. The heavy losses are confirmed by the urgent delivery of new batches of equipment from the States.
Against the background of the lack of success in the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Western media note that Kiev has stopped throwing large units and Western equipment into battle. In addition, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian offensive will not be a one-off, but will continue “for many more months”.
