In April last year, Sarsa found out that she suffers from a disease called otosclerosis. It is a disease that leads to hearing loss. Her next album, “Jestem Marta”, was created out of fear of losing what is most precious to the musician. Luckily, she found a specialist who undertook to surgically restore her full ability. Until recently, she was learning to hear almost from scratch. Now, on the wave of regained hearing, she is once again immersing herself in melodies, telling her story a little, and the new single seems to open another chapter in her musical career.
– This is my next incarnation – admits the artist, adding: – Andle resulting from evolution, not an intended metamorphosis. The changes, quite stormy, which could be observed in me in recent years, have already been a constant in my life. From this difficult experience I try to give something good to my recipients. I want to bring them something new. I want melody again.
The message of the song “Jak w filmy” is closely related to the artist’s experiences
– The events of my life in recent months seemed to resemble frames from a movie. – says Sarsa. – I was and am a curious observer of events, and at the same time I play the main role. In the lyrics of the song I also recall old, childhood times. I like to go back to the moment when I was a naive and carefree little Martusia. Thanks to this I can feel this childish joy, naivety. This state helps me return to well-being and satisfaction with life. One thing is for sure, the script is still being written and I myself am curious if there will be a happy ending.

This time, long before the single’s premiere, the artist shared a fragment of it, which she recorded in a hotel bathroom during a concert tour. The script then wrote itself… The bathroom recording gained great sympathy and popularity on the web, and fans demanded the song in its entirety. On the wave of such a positive reception, 5 versions of this song were created! On the premiere day, we will receive 4 of them from Sarsa, including the album version and the aforementioned bathroom version. The fifth – a duet with rapper Zeus – will be revealed on August 30.
And that’s not the end of the surprises. Two video illustrations were created for “Jak w film” – one very dynamic, with distance and humor towards oneself and life, and the other, more girlish, nostalgic, given as a lyric video. The author of both clips is Michał Pańszczyk.
– Marta contacted me and told me directly that she missed the melodies, and I replied spontaneously that I miss her horns… Each of us longs for something and we wanted to capture it! The inspiration for the clip were iconic scenes from Sarsa’s favorite movies. The clip shows Marta’s multidimensionality as a woman and an artist, showing the four sides of who she is in 2024, here and now. A woman and a mother. A tomboy and a bully. A romantic and a juggler. A warrior and a performer. Each of these versions of Sarsa’s personality interprets certain iconic scenes from movies in their own way. – comments the director.
In this clip, Sarsa also winks at her audience and expresses her horned nature in the form of a “jolly cuckold” who accompanies her as her alter ego in the music video for the single “Jak w film”, but can also be seen at concerts.
Constant change and surprising the audience seem to be Sarsa’s domain. She experiments with music, playing with it and searching for musical experiences. Sarsa is an artist who has proven that she cannot be clearly pigeonholed. She effectively eludes such attempts by releasing subsequent albums. We observe her evolution from a strong pop debut with the albums “Zapomnij mi” and “Zakryta”, through the reflective “Runostany” and “Jestem Marta”, to the melodeclamatory “Prolog 5 minut”. Now, on a wave of new energy and longing for melody, she gives her listeners pop at the highest level, but with the number of versions at the start, she immediately announces that the road to the album will be more of an adventure in the mountains than a peaceful walk in the park.
