Norwegian Politics, FPU | See the discussion of the leader of the youth parties in Nettavisen

ARENDAL (Netnavisen): Watch the broadcast above!

The panelists will discuss the climate and Norway’s place in the world. There are great expectations for the debate after a year in which the leaders of the youth party have taken a bigger and bigger place in the political conversation in Norway.

As a warm-up, Maria Madeleine Knutsen from Nettavisen visits the editor of Subjekt Danby Choi and Roy Steffensen, who was the head of Fpu and a parliamentary representative for the Frp.

The youth party leader’s debate will be broadcast live from the Arendal Cultural Center from 5pm, and will be chaired by political journalist in Nettavisen, Henrik Heldahl, and journalist Malin Noem in Avisa Oslo.

– It is very shameful how the leaders of the youth parties have caught people’s attention in recent years. Amrit Kaur and Simen Velle are just some of the names that people will see tonight, says Heldahl to Nettavisen just before the broadcast.

– Wind turbines are not the alternative

The debate will start with a fight between Simen Velle in the Fpu and Tobias Stokkeland, the leader of Grønn Ungdom. They are considering oil production.

– All independent research shows that Norwegian oil is not good for the climate. The only thing that would be needed is for a rich country like Norway to have a plan to remove oil, says Stokkeland, who gets quick answers from Velle:

– The alternative is not wind turbines, it is Russian gas. It is not true that Norwegian oil and gas are destroying the climate, says Velle, who points out that Russia will be an authoritarian regime for a long time.

These will take part in the discussion:

Astrid Hoem, ON leather
Ola Svenneby, leader of the Young Conservative Party
Simen Velle, head of the FpU
Ane Breivik, leader of the Young Left
Tobias Stokkeland, head of Grønn Ungdom
Audun Hammer Hovda, leader of the Socialist Youth
Hadle Rasmus Bjuland, head of KrFU
Amrit Kaur, leader of Red Youth
Nils Forren, deputy head of the Youth Centre

– We have to solve this by building the new green industry, says AUF director Astrid Hoem.

The deputy director of the Centerungdommen, Nilse Forren, is also clear:

– We in Senterungdommen are the sponsors that we will continue with oil production, he says.

Young Liberal leader Ane Breivik says she will not set an end date for oil production, but will end production.

– We must stop looking for oil, and develop more renewable energy. If we don’t cut emissions now, we won’t reach the climate targets, she says.

– We need an emergency landing, not an accident landing, says Amrit Kaur in Rød Ungdom.

– Do you regret calling Nicolai Tangen a terrorist, or will you stand up to him, Kaur?

– I don’t think that Tangen is a terrorist, but I think that Tangen is a war profiteer, and has nothing to do with the oil, says Kaur.
