The voluntary departure program for Poczta Polska employees will cover more than 9,000. people, i.e. 15 percent team, and it will cost about PLN 600 million – said Sebastian Mikosz, the company’s president, at a press conference on Wednesday.
“We have made several important decisions. The first one concerns the launch of a voluntary exit program from Poczta Polska in a few weeks. This is because (… ) as our post office in Europe that has the highest level of earnings.expenses as a percentage of its income. 65 percent of our costs are employment costs. If we look at our competitors, it goes up between 35 percent. and 45 percent,” the president said.
As Mikosz said, it will be a guided program, which means that first an assessment of employees will be carried out, the organizational structure will be changed, and then Poczta Polska will offer selected people to take advantage on the voluntary exit program.
“We will direct this program to about 15% of the workforce, ie about 9,000 people; however, we do not direct it to groups, but to individuals who are defined and identified on the basis of the assessment,” said the head of Poczta Polska. .
Mikosz clarified that the program would be sent to 9,000 people. 300 employees.
“The cost of the plan (…) is PLN 600 million. This is a cost we can afford” – stressed Mikosz. He said that this would be spread over a year.
The president also assured that the program will not be sent to postmen or people employed in post offices.
“We will direct this (exit program – PAP) mainly to non-functional activities. We would not like posters or staff working in our facilities to be covered by this program, so we will manage it carefully. It will now take several weeks to start implementation,” he said.
Mikosz also announced that people who decide to take advantage of the program will receive an annual salary as part of the agreement.
According to Mikosz, the transformation plan prepared by the management board and approved by the board of directors assumes that the company will be gradually transformed into a messenger, sales, financial and digital company modern, and the changes will cover key areas of activity, such as courier and financial services. The plan also includes the modernization of IT systems, logistics processes and the sales network.
As Mikosz announced, the transformation of Poczta Polska will be done in several stages. The first one, called Poczta 1.0, assumes that the most urgent changes will be introduced; they will be introduced later this year and will include, among others: IT area, improving the quality of postal services, as well as employment optimization.
The President pointed out that the transformation plan assumes the creation of an IT Shared Services Center and the introduction of modern solutions that enable better processes and automation as well as efficient and effective management of the organization.
According to the transformation plan, Poczta Polska branches will be adapted to the needs of customers depending on their location. The post office will have a different place in a small community than in a big city.
In places far from cities, the post office becomes a Citizen Service Centre. There you will be able to pick up a traditional parcel, collect your pension, but also eg a passport or other documents, and buy books and notebooks for school. The biggest facilities in big cities, in addition to the postal work, will also be a socio-cultural resource and a commercial gallery.
Mikosz also informed that work is underway on a new model of the post office, adapted to today’s realities, both in terms of form, equipment and product range.
He also said that the company plans to invest about PLN 500 million in IT in three years, and that investments in the facilities themselves will be determined after making a detailed inventory. As he said, it is estimated that the total investment over three years is several billion zlotys.
Mikosz also announced that a partnership with Orlen is possible when using a network of parcel devices.
Poczta Polska is a State Treasury company, the largest postal company in the country. It employs approximately 62 thousand. employees, and its network covers 7.6 miles. branches, branches and postal agencies across the country (PAP).
