Real Madrid has made it its mission to bring together the greatest talents on the football planet. One of them comes from Uruguay – and is at least under observation by the Blancos.
German Barbas is already a big name in Uruguay’s youth scene. This is due to the fact that the 16-year-old scored the winning goal for the Uruguayan U19 national team in the final against Argentina at the international football tournament in L’Alcedia.
According to the program Minuto 1 on the Uruguayan radio station RadioCut Uruguay, Real Madrid is keeping Barbas under observation. The Blancos have already informed Barbas’ club CA Penarol that the top talent has a place on the watch list.
Barbas made his professional debut a few weeks ago in May and looks set to have a bright future ahead of him. Many compare Barbas to Fede Valverde because of his physique and playing style. A comparison that doesn’t bother the top talent in the slightest – quite the opposite.
“I look up to Fede Valverde a lot, especially because of his origins, because he’s Uruguayan and because I would also like to play in Europe at the level he plays at,” Barbas said. “Since I was ten years old, I’ve been called Pajarito, just like him, they’ve always seen a certain similarity in me.”
