The incident occurred at kilometer 680 of the Rhine – near the Cologne district of Ensen on the right bank of the Rhine. After the accident, extensive search measures were immediately initiated.
In addition to a boat from the water police, a rescue helicopter, a fireboat from the Cologne fire brigade and two rescue boats from the DLRG were also in action.
