DAY WITHOUT PRESS, AMADOU BA SPLITS THE PEAR IN TWO

Former Prime Minister Amadou Ba spoke about the “Day without press” decreed by the Council of Press Distributors and Publishers of Senegal (CDEPS) this Tuesday, August 13.

Against all expectations, he did not take part. He asked each party to fulfill its duties so that this file is put away in the drawers. According to him, “we must avoid it overflowing and that the actors quickly find themselves around a table.”

“It is the responsibility of companies to fulfill their tax responsibilities. It is the responsibility of the State to preserve its tools. I hope that this file remains a technical file and that the tax administration can discuss with the press companies and find a solution. I think that we just need to balance. It is up to companies to fulfill their obligations and for the administration to find ways and means to help these companies to be able to survive and work,” he says.

It should be noted that the press bosses have declared this day to denounce the pressures of the tax authorities through the blocking of bank accounts, the lack of consultation with the State and the formal notices served to pay taxes.
