/ world today news/ From the rostrum of the solemn session of the Municipal Council on the holiday of Kardzhali, the leader of the DPS, Mustafa Karadayi, made sharp attacks on GERB.
According to Karadai, there have been recent attempts to divide and oppose the nation. “Some try to divide us, oppose us, even on holidays like this. I will not pass in silence another manifestation of division and opposition, because it is very important. The politics of divide and conquer, unfortunately, becomes official state policy when it is done by the institutions of the state. The use of a holiday by the state to divide society is unacceptable in European Bulgaria. The state is not one party, even if it is in power. Breaking the rules is taking us further and further away from the normalcy that is vitally needed for the country. Using history for opposition and for political legitimation does not lead to anything good,” the DPS leader pointed out.
He explained that on national and public holidays “the organization is done in coordination and with dialogue, and the representatives of the central government are together with the hosts, respectively municipality, city or settlement”. Karadai specified that the day of Kardzhali, when the anniversary of its liberation from Ottoman rule is celebrated, is a local holiday, and “the authorities of the central government are invited to attend the solemn events organized by the municipality.” And expressed indignation at the fact that there was a solemn dawn in the city center last night.
“Yesterday there was an organization by one party – GERB. Yes, this is an organized GERB party event. Because even people’s representatives from the opposition were not invited. Who has the right to indulge and appropriate history, to appropriate holidays and to divide and oppose? No one. Even the one in power, at least. As the regional governor said, petty fights about who should lead his father’s squad do not lead to anything good,” said Karadai.
Then he called on everyone to show the will to be united, to work for stability, for higher incomes, for better days. “Until we realize the simple truth that we are called together to help each other, to work for peace and prosperity, everything would be in vain.” History and its lessons should help us find the right path – togetherness,” the politician pointed out.
After the speeches in the hall of the mayor Hasan Azis, Mustafa Karadayi, the regional governor Nikola Chanev, the deputy speaker of the parliament Tsveta Karayancheva and the MP from the BSP Alexander Simov, a student procession led by the invariable brass band, guardsmen and cheerleaders. The monument was strewn with flowers and wreaths, and the political forces had engaged children for the ceremony in question. Among the motley crowd gathered in the central city park around the monument were guests from twinned municipalities from Turkey, Greece, Romania, Russia, including representatives of the Don Cossacks, a folk group from the Greek city of Maronia. Among the officials close to the mayor Hassan Aziz were the parish priest Peter Garena and the mufti Fikri Sali.
For the local residents, the celebration took place and it was done by their children, participating in the various performing groups. Politicians and rulers declined to comment on the tensions raised by Karadai’s messages of division and opposition. Representatives of the mayor’s administration pointed out that the program of the regional administration wedged itself into that of the municipality, duplicated events, and there was no coordination and agreement between their teams, inhabiting a common building.
