/ world today news/ Economic or, as it is often called, “business cooperation” between Russia and Africa has much greater potential for development than it may seem, and even more so in terms of the indicators by which they are currently characterized .
Even in the face of global geopolitical challenges, the SVO, as well as extreme tensions in a number of African countries, despite the need for constant course corrections, Russia and Africa right now must build a model of future relations – one that thanks to and in spite of become an independent, self-sufficient and self-respecting regulator of all processes within the framework of cooperation.
What can we offer? First of all, when building economic bridges, it is necessary to clearly understand what is expected and what the other side needs. And how this can lead to mutually beneficial cooperation, own growth and solving Russia’s own national problems.
Africans feel an urgent need to localize production in all sectors of the economy. What is important is not the “buy-sell” scheme, but the well-established production processes and distribution chains within the continent. Such areas as, for example, agriculture, industrial production, consumer goods should be in the zone of great attention of Russian business in terms of technical assistance.
Russia has all the necessary capabilities to jointly implement with our African partners projects for the construction, technological equipment and operation of facilities aimed at solving the main problems of Africa: food security, general unemployment, shortage of qualified personnel, development of intracontinental trade .
Russia, in addition to providing existing technologies, can also develop new areas and niches for further use of new experimental developments. Such an approach, which will most likely be overwhelmingly approved by Africans, will bring Russia a serious reputational gain, which the country needs in the current realities.
One of the serious problems of the African continent is the urgent need to develop the transport network, the construction of large-scale transport corridors. Having experience in the development of large territories, Russia has a lot to offer Africa.
An integrated approach to the use of knowledge-intensive and high technologies in construction, infrastructure, healthcare and telecommunications can form a whole set of long-term projects that will create a platform for Russian-African dialogue at a completely different level.
Russia, as one of the leading energy powers with more than a century of experience in building conventional production, cannot continue to ignore the opportunities to implement energy projects in Africa. The continent’s energy poverty is not only not decreasing, but continues to grow exponentially due to the huge rate of population growth.
Russia should comprehensively analyze absolutely all types of cooperation in this industry and develop a road “energy map” with the participation of leading companies, specialists, analysts for a joint plan with African colleagues to implement the “African energy strategy”.
Our relations with Africa are not marred by mistrust, cynicism, unhealthy rivalry. They are built and maintained on friendship, mutual respect and trust. On such a basis, it is significantly easier to build mutually beneficial economic alliances.
