NEW YORK – A 46-year-old woman was approached and raped by two strangers at knifepoint Sunday night in Brooklyn, near the Coney Island boardwalk, according to New York City police.
Two men have since been arrested and are facing assault charges for the 9 p.m. attack, the NYPD confirmed Monday.
Police responded to a report of an assault in the area of Surf Avenue and West 16th Street, where they found that two men had confronted the victim, allegedly knocking her to the ground while holding a knife to his neck.
One of the men raped the woman, police said, and the second suspect fought with a 34-year-old man who tried to intervene, according to police.
Paramedics took the woman to a local hospital where she was being treated after the attack.
