The member of the yellow Trabants was only 38 years old – eXtra.cz

The travel world is crying. Radoslaw Jona, a member of the Czech-Slovak-Polish group of travelers in iconic yellow Trabants, died at the age of just thirty-eight. His colleagues, led by Dan Přibán, informed about it on social networks. “It is not clear why he died, he was not always able to fight his demons, but he was only 38 years old. We are waiting for news from Poland and we remember him,” they said devastated.

Pole Radoslaw Jona joined the Trabant group in 2014. Now, ten years later, the group at Facebook informed about his sudden death. He was only thirty-eight years old. “Radek was supposed to come, but he won’t come, never again,” began the sad post of the group led by Dan Přibán, who is currently traveling through Mongolia with his yellow machines.

If we were looking for a person who could be Mad Max, it would be Radek. Smart, resilient, resourceful, sometimes too pissed off, not always reliable, often completely unreliable, but if it really mattered, you wanted him by your side. And sometimes kill. But now that he’s really dead, that’s the last thing on your mind. It is not clear why he died, he was not always able to fight his demons, but he was only 38 years old. We are waiting for news from Poland and remembering him,” his devastated colleagues said in an emotional post on their Trabant Across Continents page.

He was like a younger brother

“Radek was such a younger brother. He can annoy you terribly, he gets on your nerves when you feel like your parents have hung him around your neck, to take care of him and you’re just waiting to see what he’ll do next, but he’s still a younger brother. Radek was the only real punk of the yellow circus, real because he always lived like that. Sometimes it was on the edge, sometimes on the edge of the law, sometimes it was unbearable, but it was genuine.” it stands later in the post.

A group of travelers publishes documentaries from their journeys, which were also broadcast by Czech Television. According to ČSFD road movies such as Trabant through South America, Trabant to the last breath, Trabant there and back again or Trabant to the end of the world were created.

While the whole group drives around the world in Trabants, Radek Jona drove a Fiat 126 within the group, which became famous under the nickname of the kid. With the Přibáň group, they managed to travel through South America, Australia and Asia.
