“2000 x 1000 euros for commitment”: money for projects against loneliness

From August 19, committed individuals, clubs, civil society associations and other initiatives can apply for support as part of the micro-funding program “2000 x 1000 euros for commitment”. The state government is making two million euros available for this purpose. This means that up to 2000 projects can be awarded an amount of 1000 euros each. The Rhein-Kreis Neuss has declared its participation in the program and will receive 49,000 euros to approve a total of 49 measures. The theme for 2024 is “Committed together – you + us = one. North Rhine-Westphalia against loneliness”.
District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke is calling on all clubs, organizations and initiatives on the Rhine, Erft and Gillbach to apply with a project. “For our volunteers, this is a great opportunity to implement smaller projects in an uncomplicated way. With 1,000 euros, you can often achieve a lot for the community and against isolation in our homeland. That’s why we hope for many applications,” says Petrauschke.
Applications are submitted via the online portal www.engagementfoerderung.nrw. Eligible measures can be projects that are directly aimed at people affected by or at risk of loneliness, such as the creation of meeting places or offers to encourage more conversation with one another. Training courses for those involved are also conceivable in order to raise awareness of the issue of loneliness and to develop strategies against loneliness for their own club life. Measures against discrimination, bullying and for tolerance and integration can also strengthen togetherness and thus help prevent loneliness.
