Castellon

A 41-year-old woman from Castellón complains that the public health system does not cover her treatment for cervical cancer prevention, which costs 1,000 euros.

More information

A month ago, this woman received the diagnosis from the tests she had undergone at the Sexual and Reproductive Health Centre at the UJI and linked to the General Hospital of Castellón. From there, a nurse contacted her to give her the results, which showed a positive result for the Papillomavirus and also reflected a high risk of cervical cancer.

The nurse prescribed her a treatment with a total cost of 1,000 euros but which is not covered by social security. According to the patient, the nurse assured her that since she had not tested positive for cancer but was, in her case, a high-risk patient and, therefore, the treatment was preventive, social security would not cover the cost.
