Ten more Riverside County youth have been honored with Jamil Dada Youth Character Excellence Awards.
The awards, established 10 years ago, are named for Dada, vice chairman of the Riverside County Workforce Development Board and a longtime advocate for March Air Reserve Base.
He announced the creation of an endowment to carry the program for years to come during a recent awards celebration at the March Field Air Museum near Riverside, according to a news release. “I truly believe that we are making a substantial difference in many lives and I want to make sure that we can continue this good work of honoring our youth in the future,” Dada said in the release.
The awards honour young people who have shown strong character despite obstacles, the statement said.
This year’s recipients received a $2,500 scholarship, a trophy, and legislative certificates.

- Genesis Thania Gomez Amaya, Jurupa Valley
- Penelope Garcia, Jurupa Valley
- Roberto Villarino, Hemet
- Neo Middleby, Hemet
The event featured keynote speaker Stewart Knox, Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency.
