This is what the Maxiperium in the Maxipark Hamm was like

Second edition of the fan event attracts many visitors in Hamm

As early as 2023, the members of the SW Fan Force Hamm were able to ensure many enthusiastic faces among Star Wars fans. This enthusiasm did not stop this year either. Around 6,000 Star Wars enthusiasts on Sunday (11.08.) visited the Maximilianpark in Hamm to meet their idols in real life and to take a souvenir photo or two. Around 250 cosplayers from different groups and clubs from all over Germany traveled to the Maxipark to show off their elaborate and mostly authentic costumes. The highlight was a large cosplay parade that snaked its way through the park at around 3 p.m. In addition, interested parties could get information about the individual cosplay groups at several stands and admire their cosplay works. Souvenir shops were also provided, so Star Wars fans could create their own lightsaber, among other things.

Organizers are delighted with the large turnout

Nobody expected 6,000 visitors. This means that the number has more than doubled compared to last year, says Alexander Böhmer from SW Fan Force Hamm in an interview with Lippewelle. He is more than satisfied with how the day went:

“Compared to last year, there is double, sometimes even triple, more. More cosplay, more participants, more attractions and also more visitors.” – Alexander Böhmer, SW Fan Force Hamm

The Maxipark team also came away from the day satisfied, Sascha Heinrich from park marketing tells us. The results are great.

“We had 6,000 visitors, 250 cosplayers, the weather was amazing. I can’t say how many millions of photos were taken today, but I saw lots of smiling faces of adults and children and the actors are happy, the park is happy and I think all the visitors are going home happy now.” – Sascha Heinrich, Marketing Maximilianpark Hamm

Not only Star Wars fans were served

Unlike last year, on Sunday (11 August) it was not just characters from the Star Wars universe that were on display. Even though the focus of the event was on the famous sci-fi franchise, other cinematic universes were also featured. Guests were able to admire a converted DeLorean from the “Back to the Future” films, or KITT from the cult film Knight Rider. Fans of Halo, Stargate and Warhammer were also catered for. A few Star Trek fans also attended the event, as Mark Allen Shepherd, an actor from the Star Trek series “Deep Space Nine” who is well known among fans, was there. In addition, the non-profit organization USS Vision eV gave young visitors the opportunity to explore space in a spaceship simulation and thus gain scientific knowledge in a fun way.

Donations go to the outpatient children’s and youth hospice service in Hamm

The cosplay group SW Fan Force Hamm has been pursuing a good cause since its founding. In their costumes they describe themselves as “the bad guys who do good”. That’s why they don’t charge any fees at their events. Instead they accept donations, this year they went to the outpatient children’s and youth hospice service in Hamm.
