Mariners 4-0 Mets Game Summary (Aug. 10, 2024)

SEATTLE (AP) — Logan Gilbert pitched seven scoreless innings and combined with two relievers to help the Seattle Mariners post their major league-best 13th shutout of the season with a 4-0 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday.

Gilbert was dominant, allowing just three hits, following up on Bryce Miller’s six-inning shutout in the series opener Friday. Gilbert allowed a leadoff single to Francisco Lindor and then allowed another hit until Lindor’s second single in the sixth.

Gilbert (7-8) struck out six and walked one in earning his first win since July 9. It was his fifth start of the season in which he pitched seven or more innings, the most in the majors.

Yimi Garcia and Andres Munoz pitched the final two innings for Seattle, which broke a tie for most shutouts this season with the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox. Munoz has not allowed a hit in 11 appearances.

For the Mets, Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor went 2-for-4. Venezuelan Francisco Álvarez went 0-for-3.

For the Mariners, Dominicans Victor Robles 1-for-5 with one run scored, Jorge Polanco 0-for-4. Cuban Randy Arozarena 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Venezuelan Leo Rivas 0-for-3.
