The mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, together with commanders of the National Police, led the launch of the pilot plan for citizen security in the Colonial City, National District, a measure executed by Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, general director of the law enforcement institution.
The initiative is launched on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who leads the meeting of the Joint Task Force, to analyze the strategies implemented to continue strengthening citizen security.
Mayor Mejía was accompanied by General Frank de los Santos Encarnación, central regional director of the District (Z-45), and Colonel Juan Antoio Bello Balaguer, central director of Planning and Development (Diplan) of the Police, and other police and military commanders.

Mayor Carolina Mejía expressed her gratitude to the officers and law enforcement agencies for their support in this joint task.
“It is a great step that we appreciate. May God bless you and your families. At the office of the Mayor of the National District we are at your service.“, he said.
While Colonel Bello Balaguer offered details of the citizen security operation.
“As you have stated, on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, a comprehensive security plan has been designed for the Colonial Zone. This device will be implemented before, during and after the inauguration, on a permanent basis, guaranteeing proper security in a coordinated and joint manner,” he explained.
Likewise, General Frank de los Santos Encarnación highlighted the firm commitment of the agents under his command in the implementation of the Comprehensive Security Plan in the Colonial Zone. He said that the men and women of the law enforcement institution “are dedicated to guaranteeing the security and protection of this emblematic area of our nation.”
Preventive strengthening
It is recalled that the aforementioned pilot plan, consisting of a security operation in the Colonial City, will have 143 members of the National Police and the integration of brothers from the Armed Forces.
The implementation of the initiative, which will coincide with the inauguration process for the second term of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, will continue to operate permanently.
The operation will be implemented within the perimeter of the Francisco Alberto Caamaño Avenue to the east; Mella Avenue to the north; Padre Billini Street to the south; and Estrelleta Street to the west.

It will be divided into four quadrants and there will be significant participation from different branches of the National Police, highlighting the active role of the Lince agents as well as a person in charge of monitoring and control to ensure that the operation is a success.
