The five most beautiful bathing lakes in the area

Crystal clear water, extensive sandy beaches or idyllic nature. These bathing lakes promise relaxation and bathing fun for the whole family.

The Birkwitz gravel and bathing lake is located just outside of Dresden, near Pirna. The former quarry lake can be reached by bike in less than an hour. The western part is ideal for walking, swimming and relaxing. The water quality is constantly checked. Long-term studies by the health authority show that the quality is generally excellent.

The sandy beach is divided into a nudist area and a textile area. In the middle of the lake there is a small island that you can swim to. Pedal boats and stand-up paddles can also be rented.

The dammed river with its long reservoir offers bathing opportunities in several places. In addition to a sandy beach, large lawns invite you to relax. On hot days, wooded banks provide pleasant shade. When the weather is good for bathing, the lidos are open between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Adults pay five euros.

In the immediate vicinity of the reservoir there is a fitness studio, a boat rental and the “Nixi” adventure pool with sauna area.

The Mockritz natural pool on the southern edge of the city, operated by the Dresden baths, gets its water from protected springs. Bathers here enjoy the best water quality. There is also a Kneipp facility with two pools. Children can enjoy their own bathing area and a playground. The spacious lawn with old trees offers plenty of space to relax.

The integrated kiosk sells snacks and drinks. The pool is open daily between 10am and 7pm until September 8th. Admission costs 5 euros for adults and 2.5 euros for children.

The Dippelsdorf Pond is located north of Dresden in the Moritzburg Pond area. The natural bathing pond with a sandy beach is a popular destination. The water is also regularly checked here. However, the water is very murky. Parents should keep a particularly close eye on their children when swimming here.

In addition to swimming, there is a boat rental, snack bar, beach volleyball courts and a playground. The lake also serves as a starting point for hikes through the Dresden Heath.
