Travis Scott, one of the biggest stars of American rap, was released on Saturday without charge after thirty-six hours in police custody in Paris in an investigation into violence, AFP learned from one of his representatives in the United States.
Asked by AFP, the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the lifting of Travis Scott’s police custody on Saturday as well as the dismissal of the proceedings, the offence being insufficiently characterised.
Early Friday morning, police were called to the Georges V Hotel and [ont] arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for violence against a security guard. The latter himself intervened to separate the rapper and his bodyguard, they indicated Friday.

According to a police source, the rapper was accused of attacking the head of the hotel’s night security team and injuring him when the latter tried to intervene.
According to the same source, Travis Scott initially opposed an alcohol test and did not want to confirm his identity.
Travis Scott, who was hit in the forehead following the altercation with his bodyguard, received treatment at the hospital, the police source said.
In this investigation entrusted to the 1st judicial police district, the rapper was placed in police custody Friday morning, a measure which was lifted Saturday midday.
We are in direct contact with the local Parisian authorities in order to quickly resolve this situation, the artist’s representative indicated on Friday evening.

Travis Scott posted a video on Instagram on Thursday evening showing him at Bercy, where the basketball events of the Paris Olympic Games are being held.
On the same account, followed by 57 million subscribers, he then posted images of his presence at a nightclub party.
History with the police
The rapper rose to fame in 2015 with his debut album, Rodeo. Since then, the Houston native has become a figure in American rap and has released four more albums, including the hit Astroworld , released in 2018.
Real name Jacques Bermon Webster II, aged 33, Travis Scott had two children with his ex-partner, American influencer Kylie Jenner.
He has already had some legal troubles across the Atlantic. In June, he was arrested in the United States, in Miami Beach, Florida, for disturbing the peace while he was drunk.
