FR.- American rapper Travis Scott was released on Saturday after spending 36 hours in police custody in Paris, where he was arrested following an altercation at the luxury Georges V hotel. The French prosecutor’s office determined that the incident was of minor seriousness, leading to the cancellation of all proceedings against him.
Scott, whose real name is Jacques Webster, was arrested on Friday morning after a confrontation with a security guard at the hotel. According to the Paris prosecutor, police were called to the scene due to a fight, during which the guard tried to intervene in the dispute between the rapper and his bodyguard.
Authorities said Scott’s arrest was a result of his alleged violence against the security officer. However, after reviewing the case, prosecutors concluded there was insufficient grounds to file charges. The artist, who was in town for the 2024 Olympics, was seen in the front row of the men’s basketball tournament semi-final between the United States and Serbia.
Taking to Instagram, where he has 57 million followers, Scott shared moments from his night out at a club after the game. A representative for the rapper said they were “in direct communication with local Parisian authorities” to resolve the situation and that updates would be provided in due course.

This is not Travis Scott’s first legal run-in. Last June, he was arrested in Miami Beach on charges of trespassing and public drunkenness. Also, in mid-2023, a grand jury decided not to file criminal charges against him and the organizers of the Astroworld festival for the tragedy that left ten dead during his 2021 performance in Houston, Texas. Despite this, Scott still faces civil lawsuits related to the incident.
Travis Scott, one of the most prominent artists in contemporary hip-hop, has released more than 100 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, highlighting hits such as “Sicko Mode” and “Franchise.” In addition, his personal life, including his relationship with Kylie Jenner, has captured the attention of the media, being the parents of two children, Stormi and Aire.
