Rod Stewart (79) has cancelled his 200th and final Las Vegas performance, scheduled for 2024, due to illness. The British rock legend is giving up Instagram announced that he was suffering from a streptococcal infection and was therefore forced to cancel the music spectacle. “Most people can work with a streptococcal infection, but obviously not me”writes Rod, adding wistfully: “I am absolutely devastated. I was so looking forward to this concert.”
Stewart, who was supposed to end his 13-year concert residency on August 7, has already announced that he will return to the stage in 2025 for “The Encore Shows.” “Vegas, I’m having too much fun for this to end now, so let’s come back for an encore!”he also said in the statement. The shows are scheduled for March and May 2025 and tickets go on sale next Monday at 10 a.m. PT, as Rod announced in a previous post on the platform.
The “Forever Young” singer recently reflected in an interview with The US Sun about aging and his health. Despite his upcoming 80th birthday, he emphasized: “I am aware that my days are numbered, but I am not afraid.” After surviving battles against prostate and thyroid cancer, the musician still wants to enjoy his remaining years to the fullest: “I’m going to enjoy these last years as much as possible. I think I have about 15 years left. I can easily manage that.”
