The Ministry of National Defense celebrated the fact that military athlete Osmar Olvera Ibarra won the bronze medal in the individual three-meter event this Thursday, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This is the second medal, along with a silver medal, won at the Olympics by Osmar Olvera, who is a member of the Mexican Army with the rank of corporal. The institution highlighted that “he once again raised national pride by obtaining his second Olympic medal.”
“The Ministry of National Defense informs that on the occasion of the participation of high-performance military athletes in the Olympic Games ‘Paris 2024’, the members of the Army, Air Force and National Guard congratulate Corporal Osmar Olvera Ibarra,” published the Sedena.
He noted that with this result, Mexico obtained its fourth medal in this sporting event, “demonstrating Corporal Osmar Olvera’s preparation, effort, dedication, discipline and tenacity to place our country on the Olympic podium.”
He highlighted that of the four medals won by members of the national delegation, three have been won by athletes from the Mexican Army.
“The Army, Air Force and National Guard support and encourage high-performance military athletes to achieve Olympic glory and a place of honor in Mexican sport at the national and international level,” he concluded.
