FC Groningen
FC Groningen returned to the Eredivisie last summer after one year in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Dick Lukkien’s team had a strong second half of the season and was promoted immediately by finishing in a respectable second place.
The differences in the rankings between FC Groningen and NAC, who finished eighth, were big last season. In the mutual duels, this was somewhat different in terms of results. At home, NAC managed to win 3-2 and in the Euroborg, despite the dominance of FC Groningen, it became 1-1.
Next season, both teams will cross swords again, but this time at Eredivisie level. The Groningers will do this with a strengthened selection. Finn Stam will be rented next season, Vaessen has been signed and Thijs Oosting has been bought for a hefty sum from Willem II.
Coach Dick Lukkien can still count on the vast experience of centre-backs Rente and Peersman. It also still has the experienced Bacuna in its ranks.
