The Ministry of Culture issued an announcement that defines the strike of the antiquities guards of Crete as illegal.
As reported by cretanews, the antiquities guards of Crete accuse the Ministry of Culture of devaluing the experience of the antiquities guards, protesting about the ODAP contractors who have been hired as salesmen and are placed in guarding and visitor control posts, as well as at the entrance of “personal escort” from private companies companies, for out-of-hours guided tours of museums and archaeological sites.
According to the antiquities guardians of Crete, the management of the country’s cultural stock must remain public.
Thus, they announced a 24-hour strike on Sunday, as well as a protest outside the archaeological site of Knossos.
