“Canicule Info service” is back in service. The toll-free number which allows you to obtain advice “to protect yourself and those around you” The heatwave hotline was reactivated on Saturday, August 10, starting at 2 p.m., the Ministry of Health announced. Reachable at 0800 06 66 66 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., this free telephone number is in place until the end of the heatwave, the government explains.
On Saturday, 16 departments are on orange heatwave alert. “This second heat wave of the summer, which is currently affecting the southern half of the country, will intensify tomorrow and at the beginning of next week”the ministry said. “This heatwave requires special vigilance, especially for sensitive or exposed people”he adds. Twelve other departments will join the list on Sunday.
The government is reminding people of some advice: stay cool or spend several hours a day in a cool place, drink water without waiting to be thirsty, moisten and ventilate your body several times a day, close the shutters and windows during the hottest hours and when it is hotter outside than inside, eat fresh and balanced meals, avoid alcohol and check on the most vulnerable.
