“We express our condolences to the worker’s family for this death that touches them so closely. We say it, once again, Enough is enough, we must live on work and not die. We demand health and safety for workers who must be protected in their activities, with all the tools available, and as they leave home, they must also return there.“. These are the words of Joseph Marchesanogeneral secretary of Filca-Cisl, in relation to the‘fatal accident at work this morning at Scafatiin which a 68-year-old worker from the province of Naples died while building a retaining wall on Via Velleca near a private home.
He stated: «We find ourselves faced with yet another death in the workplace, with a 68-year-old worker as the victim. We can never do enough to guarantee the health and safety of construction workers, which remains one of the most at-risk sectors with a national average of one victim every two days. I believe that there are three pillars on which to focus: training, prevention and innovation. But, above all, we must have respect for each person, even more so if they are engaged in a workplace like the 68-year-old worker who lost his life in Scafati».
