Murder. That’s the name of the film by the young Czech director Adam Martinec, which tells the story of a family gathering at a slaughterhouse. The film, shot on Krnovská near the Polish border, had its premiere at the festival in Karlovy Vary and has been shown in cinemas throughout the Czech Republic since August 8. “We see three generations of a family that has various traumas, various difficulties. Death is also hidden in the whole story on different levels and in different forms,” explains Pavel Sladký.

How does Pavel Sladký evaluate the film? “I rate him positively. It is a film that does not bring anything fundamentally new in terms of the fact that we would not have seen anything like it in Czech or European cinematography. We cannot apply such high standards to him.
But it is an authentic film with excellent actors, excellent actresses and non-actors. There is, for example, the actress Karin Bílíková and at the same time the father of the director Adam Martinec, Karel Martinec, who play on a very similar note.”
