This season started in a special way for the Valmiera theater – with the opening of the reconstructed theater building.
“The new season is marked by the return to the building on Lāčplēša Street, so the theme of the productions is homecoming and the various manifestations of love – from the child’s dreams and friendship, adolescent sexuality to irresistible passion and love triangles. theater says in a public statement.
The already traditionally creative team, opens the season, honoring the departed colleagues with a moment of remembrance in the Valmiera cemeteries, and the event closes with a joint release of the spirit of the theater stored in a bottle in the New Hall.
Theater director Evita Asheraden says: “Just so quietly that no one notices, we are back in our home – we move everything into place, turn the light on the front and the new passage, washing the tables of the Great Hall platform, sweeping away. the dust in the Round Hall and let the spirit of the theater breathe in the New Hall. Five important productions in the Valmiera theater will be held together with the Boris and Inaras Tetereva Foundation. The agreement was reviewed in the renovated Great Hall by Evita Asheraden and sponsor Ināra Tetereva. The cooperation already started will continue, the foundation’s support for new theater productions will increase to 350 thousand euros.
Thanks to the financial support from the foundation, five important new productions will take place in the Valmiera theater this season: William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, Gunnar Priedes’ “Zilá”, a story play Fairy Anna Brigadere “Sprīdītis”, another Gunnar. Priedes’ play “Thirteen” and Thomas Mann’s novel “Magic Mountain”.
“We are happy and grateful that the Boris and Inaras Teterev Foundation is with us on this journey, with the necessary support from which we were able to organize important exhibitions that the audience and critics last season. Continuing our collaboration, with the support of the foundation, we will fill the theater halls with art of the same high quality as the audience demands,” E. Asheradena admitted.
Supporter Ināra Tetereva emphasized: “Our land, our homes, our people – these are the most important sources of strength, to which we return sooner or later, to reflect and find inspiration for new works that increasing goodness. The first premiere of the season is expected at the beginning of October, when a special project will meet the audience in the Great Hall – the production “Cosmopolitan” by the Estonian director Andres Noormet, which is being created as a project cooperation with the Estonian. Theater “Ugala” in Wieland. The first new production in the Round Hall will be in September – documentary testimonies about women in two wars in the play “Survival Notes” directed by Mārtiņš Eihe, who will have their first meeting with the cast -heard at the Valmiera Summer Theater Festival, after which it will be included in the Valmiera Theater repertoire.
