And In order to reverse the situation, which plagues not only the Namibe region, but throughout the entire southern region of the country, a program to combat drought is being implemented, which ‘ cover every village.
The program, according to the administrator Luísa Arcanjo, has been implemented with “some degree of success”.
“Of the nine projects carried out across all towns in the province, 10 are small water systems for the Bibala area,” said the administrator.
Investments in Health
According to Luisa Arcanjo, Health is one of the sectors in Namibe that has benefited from the greatest investments in recent years, with strong support for the infrastructures of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities ( PIIM).
In the Health sector, in Namibe, 225 new professionals joined, in different sectors.
The governor lamented that the province had, a few months ago, recorded high cases of malaria.
The prevalence of the disease, said Luisa Arcanjo, reached levels above 90 percent, mostly in the towns of Bibala.
“But we are making a great effort to contain the disease,” he explained.
With all the efforts made by the executive group of the Namibe region, the administrator believes that her city will win this year’s edition of the best city award, within the framework of the 10th Forum of Municipalities and Cities Angola, which takes place in Malanje between the 9th and 10th of August.
