Dozens of motorbike and scooter riders gathered on Hoofddorpplein this evening, as a tribute to the victim of the fatal stabbing on the square last night. A 23-year-old resident of Amsterdam was killed. The motorcycle and scooter riders also sent flowers.
“It’s a peaceful tribute to the victim,” said an attendee. “All the boys look lost.” Pictures sent to AT5 show the motorbikes and scooters arriving in the square. Then they stopped at the place where the accident happened last night. Pictures show that many motorbike and scooter riders are then standing in a big circle around each other. Then they give one last ‘lap of honour’ to the victim.

The incident happened last night around 2 am. Officers and ambulance workers tried to bring the man back, but he died on the spot. Shortly after the stabbing, police arrested a suspect near Hoofddorpplein. This is about a 55-year-old man of no permanent abode.

The victim was allegedly attacked – while he was urinating against a tree – by a man who came out from under a tarpaulin, the report said. Het Parool. “There are different stories going around,” says Olav Brink from the police. “We are testing and investigating these stories. We have also obtained forensic material and the criminal investigation department is also conducting tactical investigations.”
