FC Blau-Weiß Linz will travel to Salzburg tomorrow with confidence – not only because coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team gained confidence from their opening win against Austria, but also because they are considered the Bulls’ bogey team: Last season, Salzburg did not win a game against Linz. “I don’t have this series in mind,” says Scheiblehner, who already knows the away trip to Salzburg well: on Tuesday, the 47-year-old watched their upcoming opponent in the Champions League qualifier against Enschede. “Under new coach Pepijn Lijnders, they are once again displaying the virtues that made them so famous years ago. They are exerting enormous pressure, that will be the big task.”
Some of his players know the Salzburg system well: six players from the blue-white squad have a Red Bull past. Scheiblehner: “Many clubs in Austria benefit from the training in Salzburg – we are also looking for players who are quick to act and familiar with pressing.”
