The Ukrainian military carried out a large-scale airstrike using drones in the Lipetsk region in southwestern Russia, the local governor announced today (9th).
Lipetsk Governor Igor Artamonov said on Telegram that day that the Ukrainian military had carried out a “massive attack” using drones, injuring nine citizens and disrupting the power supply.
Additionally, a state of emergency was declared in the area, and evacuation orders were issued for four towns near the air force base.
Lipetsk lies east of the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have recently deployed 1,000 infantry and tanks to continue fighting with Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry said 75 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russia overnight, with most of the sightings occurring over nearby Lipetsk and Belgorod.
The Ukrainian authorities did not comment on the Lipetsk drone strike, as they did with the Kursk attack.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement that the 27 drones launched by the Russian military overnight were intercepted in Kyiv, Poltava, Donetsk, and Dnipro.
In addition, the Governor of Donetsk Vadim Pilashkin said that on the eastern front of Donetsk, at least four people were killed by the fire of the Russian military yesterday (8th).
