The sign is unambiguous: “Exit to B125 not possible from 10.8.24 03.00 to 12.8.24 04.00”. This has unpleasant consequences for more than 40 households located on Kalkgruberweg and Kulmweg in Linz-Urfahr. They live in a dead end street and cannot drive their vehicles to or from their houses during this time.
The reason for this is construction work by Asfinag on Freistädter Straße (B125) in connection with the Linz-Auhof motorway junction. As part of the environmental impact assessment, noise-reducing asphalt was prescribed for the B125, among other things. This will now be applied in two stages, explains project manager Christian Brunner.
More than 160 households are affected by the closure, at least temporarily. From Saturday to Sunday morning, those from the Koglerweg junction to the Gasthof Wolfsegger cannot use the B125. Then, from Sunday morning to Monday at 4 a.m., the section from the Gasthof to the Treffling motorway exit is affected.
For the residents of the settlement on Kalkgruberweg and Kulmweg, the B125 is the only way to get away. Asfinag is well aware of this. The situation is also acceptable to them, said project manager Brunner in response to an OÖN query. “We have informed everyone and if someone has to leave during this period, they will have to get a hotel.”
Reachable for emergencies
Those responsible have allayed the concerns of residents about what would happen in the event of unexpected emergencies at the weekend. The emergency services would in any case have access to and from the settlement that was particularly affected by the closure. “Nobody needs to worry about that,” said Brunner, “the police, rescue services and fire service all know about it and have their own operational plans.”
The half-junction of the A7 in Dornach-Auhof will be officially opened and put into operation on September 6th after almost one and a half years of construction.
