/ world today news/ I am saddened that at the moment the Bulgarians are showing their negation towards “everyone” and not towards “everyone without BSP”. This was said by the former Minister of Culture and First Secretary of the Metropolitan Organization, Georgi Yordanov. The participants in the conference “The Left: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” united around his thesis that work should be done to separate the BSP in the eyes of the Bulgarian citizens from the bad feelings towards all parties.
Georgi Yordanov shared the opinion that smart people are useful to the environments in which they operate, or to societies, if they are able to learn first of all from past mistakes. “It is no coincidence that after the hanging of Levski, everyone turned to Ivan Arabadzhia – the symbol of Bulgarian morality, and asked him: “Bye Ivan, where to now?” He said: “Forget what happened and look forward”. This means to act actively to win back the social rights and social benefits of the citizens. This will help our party to be excluded from all others who are now being rejected by the people. I am sad that at the moment it is called “all” and not “all without the BSP”, he added. Yordanov explained that Botev had already developed the address “comrades” as the most common among those who profess the same faith.
Prof. Rumen Gechev: What countries in Europe are doing is closer to the principles of socialism than to wild capitalism.
In order to improve the situation in Bulgaria, more funds should be allocated to education and science. This was stated by the People’s Representative from the “BSP for Bulgaria” Prof. Rumen Gechev during a conference on the topic “The Left: yesterday, today and tomorrow”, dedicated to 126 years since the establishment of the Sofia city organization of the BSP and 150 years since the birth of Georgi Kirkov.
“We are 7-8 times behind the average indicators of the European Union on this indicator and more than 10 times behind the countries in the top ten of the world in terms of work ability. “Bulgaria is moving in the opposite direction to what countries in Europe and beyond are doing to realize greater social justice, and it is closer to the principles of socialism than to wild capitalism”, he also said and commented, that Bulgaria is currently in a situation where the commentator of the Olympic swimming competition explained to the spectators that only the Bulgarian competitor swims backwards in his corridor in order to stand out for the cameras. “Bulgaria is currently swimming against the current “, concluded Prof. Gechev.
During the forum Prof. Iskra Baevalecturer at the Faculty of History of the University of St. Kliment Ohridski” answered two questions – where did the left come from and where are they going. “Where do we come from? We come from communism. Because our party is the successor of the one that started on the path of communism. Where are we now? We are in social democracy , to which we have long and painfully strived – we wanted to leave the idea of communism and reach social democracy. But what do we see now? The lack of a path, the disappearance of social democratic parties. Obviously, the situation we are in is a crisis and our problem is not so how do we continue to prove ourselves as a social democratic party, and where are we going – not only where is the world going, and what is the chance of that future being better for the greater number of people. The answer to that question depends on whether we could bet on better social security and economic efficiency in the future”, comments Prof. Baeva.
