Maike Preißing sees the world differently than most people because she has synesthesia. She not only feels, hears and reads touch, music and words, she also sees them in colours. A snoring sound is orange, a handshake is blue and the letter S is pink. Synesthesia is not a disease, but a rare neurological phenomenon: sensory perceptions that normally occur separately are linked together here. It took some time for Maike Preißing to be able to deal with it. Today she is happy with her “gift”. She studied psychology and has a podcast in which she explains synesthesia. In the state presentation she explains how she managed to deal with her special opinion.
