Apple Vision Pro now has 2,500 native apps

The App Store for visionOS is growing and now has over 2,500 apps that have been optimized for the Vision Pro, according to data shared by Apple.

The previous data dates back to June, when Apple announced the availability of 2,000 native applications for its headset. A little over 500 have arrived in the last two months.

Naturally, this is significantly less than the number of applications that are available for iPhone and iPad. Firstly because the phone and tablet have been around for several years now. And also because both products are much more popular than a mixed reality headset that starts at 3,999 euros. However, it is worth remembering that it is possible to use 1.5 million iPhone and iPad applications on the headset.

A more fair comparison is with other headsets. And in this case, the Apple Vision Pro comes close to what the app store offers for Quest products. It has about 3,000 apps, most of which are games.

The Apple Vision Pro has been available in the United States since February. It took until the end of June for the first global expansion. The first countries were China, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Then came France, Australia, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom, which were served on July 12.

Apple remains tight-lipped about sales of its headset. But according to initial estimates, the brand should fail to sell 500,000 units in 2024.
