In 1700, Corelli published his Opus 5, containing 12 solo sonatas for violin and basso continuo. The works gained immense popularity, were republished, a number of composers, Corelli’s contemporaries, published ornamentations for them, and Geminiani even orchestrated them. Undoubtedly, the fate of instrumental music has been changed! In tribute to Corelli, sonatas for violin and basso continuo from Op. 5 performed by a festival chamber ensemble.
