/ world today news/ The construction of the “Burgas-Alexandroupolis” oil pipeline on Bulgarian territory will begin within 2 years, despite our country’s rejection of the project announced years ago. This is what the former executive director of the Bulgarian part of the project, Plamen Rusev, predicted before the BNR.
According to unconfirmed information, the shares of the Russian side in the project were bought by the American energy company Chevron, BNR reported.
A few days ago, by decision of the Council of Ministers, the capital of the Bulgarian project company “Burgas-Alexandroupolis” was increased by BGN 120,000. These funds are used to pay the salaries and travel allowances of the company’s board of directors.
Rusev explained why the construction of the gas pipeline itself cannot be stopped: “This is an international agreement and all parties must agree to break it. In the same way, we can disagree with the Treaty of Neuilly, but that does not mean that the cities of The White Sea is Bulgarian”.
A possible resumption of activity depends on Chevron’s pace of development and the completion of the Caspian gas pipeline expansion.
The pipes for the Bulgarian part have been stored in the port of Burgas for 7 years now.
