/ world today news/ Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa proposed to the international community to completely liquidate any offshore schemes that allow large capitals to be hidden.
“If humanity has decency, if there is any ethics in capitalist globalization, an international law banning tax havens must be adopted,” Coera told the Venezuelan portal El Universal.
According to the Ecuadorian president, companies that use offshore services do so because they want their actions to remain hidden.
Correa’s statements were prompted by the publication of the so-called Panama Papers. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists announced on May 9 a database of offshore companies on the website offshoreleaks.icij.org and made it possible to identify potential owners of offshore companies by name or by country. There are 209 countries on the list.
Correa also said he was not afraid of possible revelations about representatives of his administration who might be involved in such opaque schemes.
